KF&B Law Academic Scholarship Presents Its Winner For The Academic Year 2020-2021
Tampa, Florida – May 26, 2021 – KF&B Law Academic Scholarship presented its 2020-2021 awardee named Danita Mapes from Arcadia University in Glenside, PA. The upcoming senior will receive her $1,000 financial grant in the fall of 2021.
KF&B Law believes in justice for all–as a law firm, they believe that students who stand for equality deserve opportunities to help empower others as well. This is why the company has chosen Danita Mapes as the 2020-2021 winner. The scholarship essay question reads: “What is one problem the world faces that you would like to take on, help change and how do you propose doing so?” to which, Mapes answered relating to her experience and desire to help those with special needs.
“I was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. About 10 years, Osteogenesis Imperfecta. So, as I grew old enough for independent thought and surrounded by children disadvantaged since birth in the hospital; colorful but holding grim reminders within, I made a vow to not let these special children to believe there’s no hope in this world for them,” she remarked.
Danita also believed that it is now her mission to use the degree she will be pursuing to raise awareness and inspire others about disability through her writing.
“Thus began my mission to spark hope in the life of those swept under the rug of equal rights. Each moment of hardship sparked the fire of passion within me to change the stereotypes of disabled youth and encourage them to enforce their rights as human beings. I fostered this plan for my life through several hardships beginning with my birth, and hope to execute them in the future. The KF&B Scholarship will help me execute this plan, by offering me a more secure education to pursue my career path as a journalist that will hope to inspire others through my writing,” she added.
In the future, Mapes plans to align her career and other plans to break the stigma about people with special needs.
“I want to dispel stigma about disability and help able-bodied people become better allies through fighting for better social security benefits, pay equality, and accommodations.”
KF&B Law Academic Scholarship is a program started by KF&B Law, a personal injury law firm based in Tampa, Florida. Their several practice areas include receiving justice from abuse, malpractice, accidents, wrongful deaths, and insurance disputes.
