July 26
20:33 2023

The Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association Investment and Financing Committee and the International Artificial Intelligence Industry Alliance were successfully held on the afternoon of July 23rd at Guangdong Venture Capital Town. The event was chaired by Mr. Cai Zhongtao, Secretary-General of the Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association, with the aim of promoting exchanges and cooperation within the artificial intelligence industry and exploring cutting-edge technologies and development trends in the field of artificial intelligence.

Mr. Zhang Wei, the Chairman of the Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association Investment and Financing Committee and the Chief Economist of the Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association, delivered an enthusiastic speech. He mentioned that artificial intelligence is currently at the forefront of the AI field and has attracted considerable attention. The new generation of artificial intelligence possesses high autonomy, self-learning, and adaptability, making traditional regulatory models inadequate to meet its developmental needs. Particularly, there are new challenges in terms of the consequences and risk assessment of intelligent product applications, problem accountability, and potential safety risk management. At the same time, data has become a crucial asset for countries, companies, and individuals. How to regulate artificial intelligence reasonably to ensure safety and privacy has become a focal point of concern for various sectors and policies in different countries. In response, various countries have formulated and issued a series of standards and guidelines emphasizing privacy protection and responsibility, aiming to improve the application scenarios of artificial intelligence and accelerate industrial implementation.

How can artificial intelligence efficiently and safely empower industries. How can global politicians, entrepreneurs, scientists, and investors enhance communication and collaboration to develop policies and cooperation mechanisms that benefit human development and industrial growth. How can international cooperation and cross-sector collaboration be promoted to facilitate the integration and development of AI across various industries, ultimately benefiting humanity. In this context, the Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association has established the AI Industry Investment and Financing Committee. We sincerely invite experts and scholars from the scientific and industrial communities to come together and explore the integration and development of AI in various sectors. We aim to discuss how capital can facilitate the implementation of AI technologies.

Academicians share

The highlight of this event was the sharing session by three academicians, Schahram Dustdar(Academician of the European Academy of Sciences, Chairman of the Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association), Junlong Chen(Foreign academician of the European Academy of  Sciences, academician of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts), and Derong Liu(Academician of European Academy of Sciences, Fellow of IEEE), who shared their research achievements and insights in the field of artificial intelligence.

Academician Schahram Dustdar presented his research in distributed systems at the Vienna University of Technology and emphasized the widespread applications of artificial intelligence in future societies. He mentioned that currently, most AI algorithm training takes place in the cloud, but in the future, these algorithms will be deployed at the edge. Edge computing aims to reduce the latency of data transmission to the cloud, improve data processing efficiency, and reduce network bandwidth demands. It is suitable for applications that require fast response and real-time processing, such as the Internet of Things, real-time monitoring, and intelligent transportation. In the second part of his presentation, Dustdar discussed the SLO model, widely used in cloud computing, network services, and application development. The SLO model helps service providers define service level commitments and enables users or clients to understand the expected service quality. By using the SLO model, system performance can be better measured and managed, ensuring users receive high-quality service experiences. Dustdar pointed out that the SLO model is a general methodology, and its specific application may vary depending on different systems and services. In practice, it is essential to establish suitable metrics and objectives based on specific circumstances and continuously monitor and improve services to maintain stable and optimized service quality.

Academician Junlong Chen introduced the latest research achievements of the School of Computer Science and Engineering at South China University of Technology and shared two main projects undertaken by his team. Firstly, he presented the “Cooling Fluid Project,” emphasizing the crucial role of cooling fluid (or cooling technology) in certain applications of artificial intelligence. AI applications often involve handling large amounts of data and complex computations, leading to significant heat generation in processors and other hardware components. To maintain hardware stability and performance, cooling fluid technology is employed to efficiently reduce hardware temperatures and ensure system reliability.Secondly, he discussed “Cutting-edge Technologies and Applications in Mental Health,” with a particular focus on the “Intelligent Drug Rehabilitation” project. The project comprises three systems: the platform system, hardware devices, and a mobile application (APP). This drug rehabilitation device is the country’s first intelligent head-worn electroencephalogram monitoring device for drug rehabilitation personnel. It utilizes brainwave signal collection and analysis to monitor changes in brain regions, assess emotional states, and quantify drug dependency before and after physical activities for addicted individuals. The Intelligent Drug Rehabilitation Diagnosis and Evaluation Platform, as well as the Big Data Platform, are currently operational and being utilized at the Second Mandatory Drug Rehabilitation Center of Guangdong Province and the Cencun Mandatory Drug Rehabilitation Center in Guangzhou. These platforms meet the requirements for intelligent judicial construction set forth by the Ministry of Justice.

Academician Derong Liu mainly shared his reflections on the development of industrial intelligence and artificial intelligence automation. The goal of Industry 4.0 is to build a highly flexible, efficient, and intelligent manufacturing system that can adapt to rapidly changing market demands, improve production efficiency and product quality, reduce manufacturing costs, and achieve sustainable development. The applications of Industry 4.0 are wide-ranging, spanning multiple fields such as manufacturing, energy, transportation, healthcare, and more. It is driving the transformation and upgrading of global manufacturing industries, presenting significant opportunities and challenges for the future of industrial development. Furthermore, Industry 4.0 has sparked discussions and explorations on topics including data privacy, network security, and vocational training.During the presentation, Academician Derong Liu also explored the powerful core algorithms of computers, illustrating the computer’s strong learning and analytical capabilities using the example of playing Go.
